I recently started a small business as a nonresident and got an EIN for tax purposes. However, my client asked for my SSN instead. Are EINs and SSNs the same, or can I just provide my EIN to them?

Employer Identification Number (EIN) and Social Security Number (SSN) are not interchangeable. While an individual’s SSN is utilized for personal and financial reasons, corporations and organizations use EINs for tax and legal purposes.
