Can I transfer my UK company to the USA? Is any change required? If required, what would be the initial process?

I currently run a UK limited company but plan to focus more on the U.S. market. I’m wondering—can I transfer my UK company to the USA directly, or will I need to set up a new entity? If changes are required, what’s the first step to begin the process?

Transferring a company from the UK to the US is possible but can be a lengthy and legally complex process. As a result, our company does not offer services specifically for company migration.

Alternatively, a simpler and more straightforward approach is to close the UK company and register a new company in the US. If a client expresses interest in this option, we are able to assist them. When approached by someone seeking to migrate their company, it is best to respond politely, explaining that the process is time-consuming and legally complex, and therefore not a service we provide. Instead, we can suggest our two services: company dissolution for closing the existing company and forming a new company in either the UK or the US.

It\’s important to gauge the client\’s mood and attempt to redirect their focus towards forming a new company, as this approach is less complicated. It\’s worth noting that this approach is not unethical since the client is not technically migrating to their existing company. Cause the migration process itself is complicated and challenging.
