Can I change the default currency in Stripe?

I’m setting up my Stripe account for my online store, and I realized I need to process payments in different currencies. My default currency is in USD, but I want to know if I can change it to EUR or another currency. Can I change the default currency for my Stripe account, or do I need to create a new one?

No, there is no setting in the Stripe Dashboard for your default currency. The default currency is set automatically when any of the following actions are taken for the first time:

    ▪ The customer is subscribed to a plan
    ▪ An invoice is created for the customer
    ▪ An invoice item is created for the customer
    ▪ The customer’s balance is adjusted
    ▪ A flat-rate coupon is attached to the customer (not a percent-off
    coupon)

Once any of the actions above are taken, the default currency is set, and the currency cannot be changed.

However, you can accept payments in multiple currencies on the same Stripe account by enabling other currencies in your settings. This allows you to process payments in different currencies, but the default currency for payouts and balance will still be the one set during account setup.
