How can I reclaim the UK VAT for an Amazon purchase?

I recently bought some inventory for my business through Amazon UK, and I noticed VAT was charged on the purchase. As a VAT-registered business owner, how can I reclaim that UK VAT amount? I want to make sure I’m handling my accounts and tax reclaims properly.

Depend on your business type /location. Im assuming you are VAT registered.

If you are in the UK just include it in your returns.

If you are elsewhere in Europe then if they have your VAT number you might not get VAT added to the order. ( I’m UK based, when stuff comes from elsewhere in Europe it works sometimes) otherwise there are procedures for reclaiming VAT paid in other countries but it has to be a large amount to be worthwhile. Talk to your accountant.

If you are outside Europe it shouldn’t get applied.
