I’ve just realized my California LLC’s registration is up for renewal, and the deadline is approaching fast! I’ve heard horror stories about businesses getting hit with penalties or worse—dissolved—because they missed the annual franchise tax or didn’t file their Statement of Information on time. I’m freaking out because I haven’t updated my business information in a while. How can I make sure I’m not one of those horror stories?

To renew your business registration in California, follow these steps:
1.File Biennial Statement of Information: Due every 2 years, within 90 days of formation or the anniversary of your registration.
2. Pay the Franchise Tax: $800 annually, due by the 15th day of the 4th month after the start of your tax year.
3. File Online or by Mail: Submit your Statement of Information through the California Secretary of State’s website.
