What exchange rate is applied for refunds and chargebacks?

I had a customer request a refund for an international order, and the payment was made in EUR, but I processed the refund in USD through Airwallex. I’m concerned about what exchange rate will apply during the refund process. Will Airwallex use the original rate at the time of the transaction, or will the rate fluctuate, causing me to lose or gain money?

Airwallex applies the prevailing mid-market exchange rate at the time of processing refunds or chargebacks. This means that if a transaction is refunded or charged back, the conversion is done using the current market rate— which may differ from the rate at the time of the original transaction. Any applicable conversion fees or margins might also adjust the final refunded amount.
